ICF SAILING COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME
The ICF Sailing Committee is delighted to accept the UK’s offer to host the XXth IC World Championships at Pwllheli Sailing Club in Wales – one of the 4 countries that make up the UK (the others being England, Scotland and Northern Ireland), between 19 and 25 August 2017.
Wales is home to a strong IC fleet including 3 times world champion Robin Wood.
We are fortunate to have the championships hosted at the newly built Plas Heli, a world class sailing facility that hosted the Fireball and 29er World championships in 2015, and ran the successful Europa Cup and UK championships this summer.
Sailing will take place in Tremadog Bay which provides fantastic sailing conditions with limited tidal currents and steady winds just a short sail from the shore, with the backdrop of Snowdonia – a National Park.
Tony Marston and his team have been working very hard to ensure the championship is a success both on and off the water for all canoe sailors, whether participating in the latest development rule designs or the one design variant.
The three yearly World Championship is one of the highlights of International 10 Square Metre Canoe sailing. It provides the opportunity to catch up with old friends, to meet new IC sailors, to discuss the latest boat developments, and of course, to establish who is the best IC sailor in the World.
I look forward to welcoming IC sailors from around the world. A warm welcome awaits you.
